Staffordshire & Black Country Business Innovation Centre is a European BIC and is one of 12 within the UK and over 160 within Europe. Our BIC was established in 1995 as a not for profit organisation with a mixed public and private board of directors. Our purpose is to assist businesses and individuals to evaluate and develop inventions, innovation and technology related issues. The BIC actively promotes and supports innovation and incubation.
Non-executive Board Member
At present the Board consists of 12 members covering both public and private organisations. Each Board Member has completed a form 288a and has been registered at Companies House.
The main obligations of a non-executive Board Member are to:-
Provide guidance within a framework of prudent and effective controls, which enable risk to be assessed and managed
Ensure that the necessary financial and human resources are in place for the company to meet its objectives, and review management performance.
Assist in setting the company’s values and standards and ensure that its obligations are understood and met.
Valid travel expenses may be paid on receipt.
Meetings are convened on a quarterly basis and held at our Longton office. The meetings start at 8:30 am and usually finish by 10:00am.
