Networking at Old Trafford
Thanks to the Staffordshire Business Environment Network I had the opportunity this week to visit Old Trafford in Manchester as they had recently won an award from the Carbon Trust for vastly reducing their CO2 emissions and at the same time reducing their energy costs.
Old Trafford is over a hundred years old and so the scope for making changes to help the environment was quite high. With the support of Environment Specialists Economic Energy from Sugnall near Stafford, they put in a Business Management System which has led to an overall reduction of £235,000 in energy costs from an expenditure of £28,000. The biggest revelation to us all was that £11,000 was saved just by going around and turning off unnecessary lighting and power sources.
Imagine what we could all do just by walking around our premises and just making a few changes to our practices.
