BIC Supporting Cannock Company

Megatech Limited based in Huntington near Cannock, supply Equipment, Services and Consumables for the Semiconductor and Thin Film industries.

One of their products is Reactaflo, a patented, reactive sputtering process controller used to control the deposition of metal oxides in such applications as the hard coatings. Reactaflo is adaptable to all reactive sputtering processes whether single or multi-cathode, R&D or industrial-scale.

Reactaflo is normally sold as part of a very complicated technical system through OEM’s but Megatech recently identified a demand for a more user friendly version direct to the end user, especially as a retrofit. With this in mind, they purchased a second hand vacuum coater for in-house production but needed to employ a specialist consultant to restore the machine in order to re-design the Reactaflo.

They turned to the BIC for advice and support and following an Application process which included the presentation of the idea to the BIC’s Product Assessment Panel, the company was successful in obtaining a grant of £6,000 to employ this specialist consultant.
